11 Easy Football Pool Ideas

Try one of these 11 football pool ideas with your friends or family to spice up the NFL or NCAA football season. Each idea includes a template for download or an online solution to run your pool.

#1: One Week Fantasy Football

Pick 10 players from an online picksheet (or draft players). Earn points based on your players stats for the week. Pools last for 1 week only.

#2: Pickem Pool

Every week you pick who you think will win each NFL game. You get 1 point for each correct pick. Customization options include straight up picks, against the spread, confidence weighting and more. Most points wins.

#3: Football Squares

Everyone in your pool has their name randomly assigned to a square in a 10x10 grid. Write in 0-9 numbers across the top and down the side. At the end of each quarter, whoever has the square that intersects the last digit of each score wins that quarter. There are 4 winners.

#4: Football Bingo

Everyone gets a randomized bingo card that gets marked automatically after plays happen in a single football game. First to get bingo (5 in a row) wins.

#5: Best Ball Fantasy Football Pool

Pick 12 NFL players, and each week only the best scoring players count towards your team score, and you get to drop your worst scores. No lineup setting, trades, or other in season maintenance required. Pick your team once using an online picksheet. Most points wins at the end wins.

#6: Survivor Pool

Each week you pick 1 team you think will win. If you pick a team that loses, you are out of the pool. If you are correct, you 'survive' until the next week, and get to pick again. You can only pick the same team once though! The last person standing wins the pool.

#7: Playoff Fantasy Football Pool

Pick 7 players in the playoffs from an online picksheet separated by position. Earn points based on your players stats in the playoffs. Consider who has a bye versus who is likely to play the most games and get the most points. Most points at the end of the playoffs wins. No lineups, matchups, or trades.

#8: Playoff Confidence Pool

Everyone assigns a confidence weight to each team in the playoffs. Each time a team wins a game, you earn the weight of points that you assigned. Each weighting must be assigned to exactly 1 team (no more no less). Most points at the end of the playoffs wins the pool. Works for NFL or NCAA playoffs.

#9: 33 Point Pool

Draft NFL teams (or NCAA) or randomly assign teams to everyone in your pool. Each time your team scores exactly 33 points, you get to withdraw a predetermined amount of the pot. Or else you can divvy up the pot at the end evenly based on all people with a 33 point scoring team.

#10: NFL Wins Pool

Draft NFL teams (or NCAA) or randomly assign teams to everyone in your pool. Each time your team wins you get 1 point. Add up all your wins at the end of the season, across all your teams. Whoever has the most wins, wins!

#11: NFL Tip Board

There are 55 tickets on each tip board, each ticket represents the last digits of the home score and away score. People randomly pick tickets and see what number they get. If your ticket matches the score at the end of the quarter or final score, you win. Like football squares, except the numbers score either way.
