General Golf Pool Picking Strategy
- Pick guys that will make the cut
- Pick guys that others won't
- Use data, like past results at the tournament, odds, etc. For these picks I used our free PGA Championship Power Rankings tool. I assigned weight to Odds, Recent PGA Championship Finishes, and other recent major finishes. Give it a try to do your own research.
Tier 1 Pick: Rory McIlroy
Rory was a tough pick in tier 1 with Scottie's recent dominance.
There's only one reason to go against Scottie in your PGA Championship Pool ... BABY WATCH!
His wife is expecting. If she gives birth, expect a Scheffler withdrawal.

For the pick options in this article I show odds, tier, and power ranking considering recent PGA Championship (shown in Green) and recent Major finishes (shown in blue) only.
Tier 2 Pick: Cameron Smith
I like Cam in tier 2, we haven't seen him in the mix for a while and he is due.
Stay away from JT in your pool - he has missed the cut in 4 of the last 5 majors!
Will Z has had recent back flare ups, so staying away from him too.
All Tier 2 Pick Options & Data
Tier 3 Pick: Tyrrell Hatton
Tyrrell has been inside the top 40 in all of the recent majors and is coming of a T9 at
the Masters. He obviously hasn't lost any form since he left for LIV - he's a solid choice in tier 3.

Tier 4 Pick: Sepp Straka
Sepp started out hot in this week's Wells Fargo championship, tied for 1st among an elite field of golfers.
Also a Ryder Cupper in 2023 for Team Europe, Sepp has what it takes to compete at a high level. Last 2 major performances: T16, T2.

Tier 5 Pick: Rickie Fowler
With the exception of his 2023 PGA Championship missed cut, Fowler has been performing VERY well in recent majors,
inside the top 30 in his most recent 3 and the two PGA Champs before.

Tier 6 Pick: Ryan Fox
Fox was my pick for tier 6 in the Masters too, and I'm sticking with him.
He has been a majors cut making machine!
